FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: February 10, 2014 – Central Wisconsin Metal Manufacturers Alliance Informational / Membership meeting to be held on February 13, 2014.

Stevens Point, WI – The Central Wisconsin Metal Manufacturers Alliance (CWIMMA) will be holding a general informational meeting on Thursday, February 13th, 2014 at Greenheck Corporation in Schofield, WI. CWIMMA is an action-based alliance of primarily metal fabrication and machining companies in central Wisconsin who have proactively banded together to help address the shortage of skilled welders, machinists and fabricators in its region.

The primary objective of the Central Wisconsin Metal Manufacturers Alliance is to actively assist in developing a robust pipeline of people in its region with the welding, machining and fabrication skills necessary to excel in metal manufacturing industries. Achieving this objective will allow for continued, regional business growth and will further solidify central Wisconsin as a recognized world leader in advanced metal manufacturing.

CWIMAA actively engages with educational institutions ranging from middle school through technical colleges. Through a variety of events, facility tours and virtual welding programs, members contact students and those considering careers in metal manufacturing to educate them about our industries and related career opportunities we have to offer. We work with local and state elected officials to elevate the awareness of this critical worker and skills shortage. Through these contacts we are actively assisting in securing financial resources that will be directly utilized to enhance the metal trade’s educational infrastructure in our region.

CWIMAA’s alliance was formed in early 2013 and has already achieved positive results towards its stated objective. Membership includes companies such as Greenheck, Schuette Metals, Lange Machine, Sulzer Machine, Northland Stainless, Jarp, as well as educational institutions such Northcentral Technical College and economic and workforce development focused agencies including the North Central Wisconsin Workforce Development Board and Centergy. The purpose of the meeting is to invite other metal related companies in the region to learn more about the alliance and encourage these companies to join in on proactively addressing the worker shortages
challenging all of our companies.
