North Central Wisconsin Workforce Development Board (NCWWDB), 3118 Suite A, Stevens Point, WI, 54481, recently selected the 2013 recipients of its WIA Awards of Excellence. Nominees were solicited throughout the Workforce Development Board’s nine-county region, for the following three categories: Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Youth Program Participant of the Year, WIA Adult Program Participant of the Year, and WIA Dislocated Worker Program Participant of the Year. NCWWDB’s Executive Director, Rene Daniels will introduced the 2013 recipients, and NCWWDB’s Board Chair, Kent Olson and former NCWWDB Director, Michael Irwin will present awards and certificates. The awards will be presented during NCWWDB’s Board Meeting to be held on September 27, 2013 at Northcentral Technical College in Wausau. The Board meeting begins at 9:30 a.m., the presentations and awards ceremony will begin at or about 10:15 a.m. The WIA Awards of Excellence is a NCWWDB premier event being held in recognition of the month of September being declared National Workforce Development Month. NCWWDB is also celebrating its 30th year anniversary with a kick-off presentation lead by former NCWWDB Director, Michael Irwin.
Stevens Point, WI – Nearly 1500 8th grade students from 20 School Districts will be participating in the 2nd Annual North Central WI “Heavy Metal Tour” on October 9, 2013. In conjunction with 27 manufacturing employers, this event is sponsored by the North Central Wisconsin Workforce Development Board (NCWWDB), Nicolet Area Technical College, Northcentral Technical College, Northwoods Manufacturers Alliance, and the Central Wisconsin Metal Manufacturers Alliance.
