FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 7-29-14 – Former NCWWDB Staff Member Returns to Serve on Board

Stevens Point, WI The North Central Wisconsin Workforce Development Board’s (NCWWDB’s) board of directors, recently voted in and welcomed a new member. Joining for a three-year term is former NCWWDB staff member Dave Eckmann. Eckmann held the position of Business Service Manager with the Board from 2005 to 2007.

Dave EckmannEckmann currently serves as the Special Assistant to the Chancellor for Economic Development at the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point, a new position which began July 1, 2013. As an economic development professional, his work involves connecting the university to regional and statewide community and economic development initiatives that focus on solving problems or leveraging opportunities. This includes working with a variety of economic development organizations, workforce development, business and industry, not-for-profit organizations, government, and K-12 education systems.

Prior to his position at UW- Stevens Point, Eckmann served as the Economic Development Director of the Marathon County Development Corporation for six years and NCWWDB’s Business Service Manager for two years. Duties in both positions included advocating for and working to continually improve the region’s infrastructure; creating and supporting entrepreneurial development programs; developing and managing a county-wide business retention-expansion program and collaborating with a wide variety of stakeholders to address the workforce challenges we face in today’s global economy.

Eckmann has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Master of Public Administration from Arizona State University. In May of 2014, Eckmann became a doctoral student entering the Doctorate of Higher Education Administration at Edgewood College in Madison. Eckmann plans to complete his program in 2017.


The North Central Wisconsin Workforce Development Board is a public/private partnership which administers and coordinates Workforce Investment Act employment and training programs for Youth, Adults, and Dislocated Workers in the North Central Wisconsin Counties of Adams, Forest, Langlade, Lincoln, Marathon, Oneida, Portage, Vilas, and Wood.
