Ken Duberstein NCWWDB Success StoryMy name is Ken D. II. In 2008, I was laid off from my job of 13 years. I had two children to feed, a house to pay for—not to mention all the bills that go along with it.

I was scared, not just for me, but for my children mostly. I had minimal education and nowhere to turn until I was given the opportunity to get assistance from the (WIA) Dislocated Worker Program. I am not one to usually search out for help, but this was an opportunity I could not pass up.

When I began the program, I was a little uncomfortable but found everyone to be kind and helpful. With the financial help from the Dislocated Worker Program, I was able to attend a class at Northcentral Technical College that gave me a good idea at what my strengths were and what road to pursue.

After graduating from truck driving school, it took me a little time to find a place to work for that was beneficial to me and my family.

Today, I am a successful truck driver for Mark’s Transportation. Not only do I like my job, but I am able to support my family financially.

Thanks to the (WIA) Dislocated Worker Program, I was able to pursue a career which I otherwise wouldn’t have been able to. I don’t know where I would be without it. Thank you so much for the new
start in my life!

Ken D. II
