Bridging Employers, Workers and Education
North Central Wisconsin Workforce Development Board (NCWWDB) is a public/private partnership between government and business that plans, administers and coordinates Workforce Investment Act (WIA) employment and training programs in the nine counties of Adams, Forest, Langlade, Lincoln, Marathon, Oneida, Portage, Vilas, and Wood. This region is known as Workforce Development Area 6. Our purpose is to provide policy, planning, oversight and funding for local workforce development programs and address workforce issues as they emerge within our region.
What We Do...
The Workforce Development Board helps individuals:
- prepare for, search for, and secure suitable employment utilizing resources offered at area Wisconsin Job Centers
- research, choose and acquire the foundational and/or technical skills necessary to enter the career of their choice
The Workforce Development Board provides oversight to the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) system, including:
- One-Stop Job Centers
- Youth Education and Employment Programs
- Adult Employment and Training Programs
- Dislocated Worker Training Programs
The Workforce Development Board provides leadership in designing a workforce system that assists businesses with:
- finding qualified workers through recruitment, screening and referral
- acquiring funds and/or designing customized training programs to build the skills of their workforce
- analyzing the skill requirements of specific jobs and assessing candidates and/or existing workers to determine skills matches or skill gaps
