North Central Wisconsin ⎯ Information follows for media interested in attending the North Central Wisconsin Workforce Development Board’s Recognition of its 30th Year Anniversary and its Workforce Investment Act (WIA) 1st Annual Erhard Huettl WIA Awards of Excellence Ceremony.
WHAT: North Central Wisconsin Workforce Development Board (NCWWDB), 3118 Suite A, Stevens Point, WI, 54481, recently selected the 2013 recipients of its WIA Awards of Excellence. Nominees were solicited throughout the Workforce Development Board’s nine-county region, for the following three categories: Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Youth Program Participant of the Year, WIA Adult Program Participant of the Year, and WIA Dislocated Worker Program Participant of the Year. NCWWDB’s Executive Director, Rene Daniels will introduced the 2013 recipients, and NCWWDB’s Board Chair, Kent Olson and former NCWWDB Director, Michael Irwin will present awards and certificates. The awards will be presented during NCWWDB’s Board Meeting to be held on September 27, 2013 at Northcentral Technical College in Wausau. The Board meeting begins at 9:30 a.m., the presentations and awards ceremony will begin at or about 10:15 a.m. The WIA Awards of Excellence is a NCWWDB premier event being held in recognition of the month of September being declared National Workforce Development Month. NCWWDB is also celebrating its 30th year anniversary with a kick-off presentation lead by former NCWWDB Director, Michael Irwin.
WHO: WIA Awards of Excellence recipients are: Jacob Neathery of Rhinelander, WI. Neathery is the WIA Youth Program Participant of the Year recipient; James Stanchik of Auburndale, WI. Stanchik is the WIA Dislocated Worker Program Participant of the Year recipient; and Traci Dumpprope of Rhinelander, WI. Dumpprope is the WIA Adult Program Participant of the Year recipient. Former NCWWDB Director, Michael Irwin will assist in the awards ceremony and provide a presentation on the agency’s history of origin.
WHY: Media is invited for photo op and/or interview op with NCWWDB award recipients. Jacob Neathery was a single teen parent who couldn’t graduate high school due to a debilitating accident; James Stanchik is a dislocated worker who lost his job of 22 years at the NewPage Whiting Paper Mill; and Traci Dumpprobe who despite great adversity was able to complete her nursing degree and pass her State Boards. Also, there will be an interview op with past Director Michael Irwin who was instrumental in the grass roots development of the organization.
